I found an excellent article on the WIRED web site about alternate reality games. ARG can be used to promote bands, movies and commercial products. The ability to keep the customer enthralled in a product for many months is an advertiser's ultimate dream. I can see this being used more often in the future.

I did some research on ARGs for a WGBH project last summer, Kirsten -- we determined we couldn't truly undertake one (with a public television budget!)
